From YouTube to transcript.
Paste your video link
Copy a link from YouTube and paste it into the box above. Watch links, Shorts and youtu.be links work.
Get the captions as text
We read the available English caption track. You get the spoken words in order, with links back to each moment when timestamps are available.
Take the words with you
Copy the transcript or download a plain .txt file. Keep timestamps for reference, or turn them off for reading.
Put your transcript to work.
Find the part you need
Read a tutorial, revisit a lecture or find a quote in an interview. Timestamp links take you back to the video so you can check the wording. Automatic captions can mishear names and numbers.
Give your video a written version
A transcript records what you said. A blog post gives it headings, paragraphs and a clear flow for readers. Our free YouTube to blog converter turns the video into a post you can edit and publish on your blog.
YouTube transcript questions
Is this YouTube transcript generator free?
Yes. You can get a transcript without an account or a card. The tool reads the video's available English captions and gives you text to copy or download.
Can I get a YouTube transcript with timestamps?
Yes. When timed captions are available, timestamps appear beside each section. Click a timestamp to open that moment on YouTube. Switch timestamps off for plain text. Copy and download follow your choice.
Which languages does the tool support?
English only today. The video needs an available English caption track. This tool does not translate videos or transcribe audio into another language.
What if a video has no captions?
We need an English caption track, either added by the creator or generated by YouTube. If none is available, we cannot return a transcript. A new upload may need time for YouTube to add automatic captions.
How many transcripts can I get?
You can request up to 20 transcripts in any 24 hours. Every request for a valid video link counts, including videos with no captions and requests that fail. If you reach the limit, try again later.
Can I turn the transcript into a blog post?
Yes. After getting your transcript, choose ‘Turn this video into a blog post’. Your video link will be filled in on our free converter. You choose when to start, then edit and copy the finished post. The converter has its own free allowance.
