How your posts are written
Where each post comes from, how it sounds like you, and what changes it on its own.
Last updated
Every post on your blog is written from one of your videos: its transcript, its title and description, and notes on how you talk. It goes live as soon as it's written, with the video at the top.
Posts sound like you
Posts are written as you, in the first person: "we" if your videos have more than one host, "I" if they have one. They never describe you from the outside ("the host says…").
That comes from your voice notes: a short description of who you are, how you talk and how you rate things. We draft them from your videos the first time a post is written. Check them once, because they're easy to get slightly wrong (names, or your rating scale):
- Go to Publication, then Settings.
- On the General tab, edit How your posts sound.
- Click Save.
New posts follow the new notes right away. Your auto-updating pages are rewritten in the new voice overnight. Existing posts keep their wording until you rewrite them.
Writing posts for older videos
Each new upload becomes a post when Auto-generate new uploads is on for your channel (Shorts and live streams are skipped unless you change that).
For your back catalogue, open Channels and either click Generate on a video, or click Write posts to write up to 5 of your newest videos that don't have a post yet. Each post uses one generation from your monthly allowance. A post is dated by its video's upload date, so an older video doesn't look like news.
Rewriting a post
To write a post again from its video (after editing your voice notes, for example), open it from Posts, click the ⋯ button and choose Rewrite from video. It keeps its address, uses one generation, and the version it replaces goes into the post's History, where you can restore it.
Changes made on their own
Your blog keeps itself linked and current without you:
- When a new post goes live, older posts that mention its subject get a link to it.
- Each week a couple of older posts are checked and updated: prices or names that changed, and links to your newer posts.
- A link to one of your videos goes to your post about it, when there is one.
Every automatic change is listed in the post's History with a one-line summary, and Restore puts back the version before it. If you edit a post yourself while a change is being made, your edit wins.
