Where your blog's view counts are, how they're counted, and how to get more detail.
Last updated
Your Overview shows Readers: how many times your blog's pages were viewed in the last 30 days, and your five most-read pages. On Posts, each published post shows its own views for the same period.
How views are counted
A view is counted when someone opens a page on your blog in their browser. Search engine crawlers, link previews and automated browsers don't count.
Counting is private by design: no cookies, no IP addresses and nothing that identifies a reader, just a total per page per day. There's nothing for your readers to accept and nothing for you to set up.
The Monday email
Every Monday you get a short email: the week's views (and how that compares with the week before), your most read pages, and what changed on your blog without you, like new posts, rewritten pages and links added. A week with nothing to report sends nothing. To stop it, click Turn it off in the email, or Turn off under Readers on your Overview.
Getting more detail
The counts tell you what gets read. For where readers come from, which countries or which searches, add an analytics tool you already use:
- Go to Publication, then Settings, then the Analytics tab.
- Add your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID, Plausible domain or Fathom site ID.
- Click Save.
That tool's script then runs on your blog, under its own privacy policy. Its numbers won't match ours exactly, since each tool filters bots and blockers its own way.
